The GlassCast resins are sensitive to low temperatures and if the resin gets very cold (either in storage or transport where vehicles and depots are rarely heated) or it sits still for prolonged periods, it can crystallise. This can produce a variety of effects ranging from cloudiness, flakes suspended in the resin and in the worst cases the whole lot can solidify. Fortunately this does not damage the resin at all and can be reversed by warming the resin in its container with the lid securely in place.
You'll need to hold it at 40-50°C for a few hours as it does take quite a bit of energy to reverse the crystallisation. The longer it has been crystallised, the longer it will take to reverse. You could achieve this by sitting it directly onto a radiator or putting it into an oven on a low setting. For best results we recommend standing the container in hot water (although you will have to change the water a few times to maintain the temperature) but this will return the resin to its clear, liquid form ready to be used for your project. We have yet to see resin that will not eventually return to being clear. Even when the resin has become a solid lump, with enough heat and time it will return to a liquid.
We do also have a video which shows the process of reversing the crystallisation. This is the link to this below if you would like to take a look:
How to Reverse Crystallisation in Epoxy ResinAll the products in the kit have a minimum shelf life of 12 months so yes - it would still have over 10 months shelf-life at Christmas if purchased now.
Absolutely, the only thing to be aware of is that different size glitter flakes can vary in weight and could either float or sink in the resin. The fine glitter in the kit suspends really well in the resin for an overall effect :)

How to Reverse Crystallisation in Epoxy ResinI was recently gifted the jewellery making kit- brilliant set and so much stuff included!
I purchased this kit as a Christmas present and can't wait to give it! It is great value for money and it looks amazing- I may have to treat myself to one!
I love this kit, I've already made my first pairs of earrings using the silicone moulds and alcohol inks and am really looking forward to having a go with the bezels. Paige is a great teacher, she has a lovely relaxed easy-going style and the results I've achieved are amazing considering this is my first ever go with resin - thank you :)
I can't believe how much you get for your money in this jewellery kit, looking at the contents i'll have so many extra pigments, flowers and transparencies to make way over the 100 pieces! Can't wait to get started!
