CrystalDry Flower Drying Silica Crystals
This professional-grade desiccant is ideal for the fast and effective drying of flowers, greenery and other organic matter prior to resin casting projects. With a fine grain size of 0.5mm to 1mm it's perfect for drying small and large flowers alike. Drying flowers using CrystalDry flower drying silica crystals helps to retain the shape and colour of the flowers without causing damage to delicate petals.
CrystalDry works by removing the moisture from the organic matter by absorbing it. The crystals can be reused many times until they have absorbed too much moisture, they can then be reactivated through gentle heating in the oven and used over and over. Allow between 3 and 7 days drying time, although items with a high moisture content may require more time.
Supplied in a bucket with lid and handle for easy handling and storage. The bucket is oversized to allow you to fit in your flowers and greenery for drying.
Available in pack sizes of 500g, 2kg and 5kg.

This high-grade desiccant is designed for fast and highly effective drying of flowers, leaves and other organic matter, in preparation for resin encapsulation in GlassCast 50 Casting Resin in projects like coasters, paperweights, wedding bouquet preservation and much more.
The white flower drying silica crystals have a fine grain size of 0.5mm to 1mm, and are ideal for drying all flowers including smaller, more delicate flowers where the beads can get between the petals to decrease the drying time without causing damage to the petals or leave your petals looking dusty. Drying times can vary from 3-8 days, but could be longer for flowers with a higher moisture content, more information on drying time, types of flowers and much more can be found in our guide in the download tab.
CrystalDry is sold by weight and is available in airtight containers of 500g, 2kg and 5kg pack sizes. Please choose the pack size you require from the drop-down menu at the top of the page.
Instructions for Use
For detailed instruction on how to get the best out of your CrystalDry please see our Flower Drying Guide.
- Pour a shallow layer of CrystalDry into the base of your airtight container
- Trim flowers stems to 1-2cm
- Place flowers stem down into crystals
- Fill silica crystals around flowers and greenery, pouring it carefully around and inside until covered
- Seal container and store in a warm, dry place
- Leave to dry for 3-7 days (longer if required)
- Once dried, remove carefully and reseal the CrystalDry
Reactivation
CrystalDry silica gel can be used multiple times, but after several uses will becomne less effective, at this point you will need to reactivate the CrystalDry by following these simple instrcutions:
- Pre-heat oven to 100-120C
- Spread crystals out on an oven proof tray
- Heat in the oven for approximately 2 hours
- Allow to cool and store in an airtight container ready to use again
Safety
CrystalDry is non-toxic, non-flammable and inert. Keep out of reach of children and pets. You may wish to wear protective gloves and if you are not working in a well ventilated area it is recommended that you wear a dust mask, alternatively you can work outdoors or by an open window.
