Wild Cherry Wood and Resin Vase
This beautiful Cherry Wood and Resin Vase was made by woodturner Mike.
To create the vase Mike used a wild Cherry Tree root he came across whilst walking his dogs and set about cleaning it up and cutting it down to a manageable size he could turn.
Next the root was roughly cut down and fitted inside an old PVC pipe, made watertight, then poured over the root with resin pigmented with various metallic colours.
Once cured Mike removed the blank from the tube and using the lathe, turned and hollowed out the neck into a vase shape. Finally finishing the piece by flatting and polishing to give a nice shine.
