Elm and Resin Turned Bowls

These gorgeous Elm and resin bowls were made by Jason from Hannington Ash.

The bowls started off as a very dry slab of Elm, which had become cracked over the years as it had dried. Jason used metallic pigments to create a beautiful turquoise in GlassCast 50 resin, and using a mould form cast the pigmented resin around the prepared Elm to make wood turning blanks.

Once the blanks were fully cured, Jason mounted the blanks on his lathe and turned them, before finally sanding and polishing the bowls and finished them with some beeswax mineral board butter.

Thank you for sharing your work with us, the bowls look amazing, especially with the light shining through them!

ABOUT HANNINGTON ASH

Still enjoying his wonderful day job, however, so for a while yet this venture will be strictly evenings and weekends!

Making serving boards, chopping boards, bowls and tables using largely native hardwoods, anything from huge waney edge slabs and slices through to planed, sanded and polished exotics.
