Pole Wrap and Resin Desk
This beautiful bespoke desk was designed and created by Becky from DIY HER WAY who took inspiration from a picture in a magazine where pole wrap had been used to create wall panelling by cutting and assembling the pattern in a puzzle style.
To create the desk base, an existing door was used with a piece of hardwood board attached to provide a flat solid surface. The pole wrap sheet was then cut and square tiles created, which would make the overall puzzle pattern. Once happy with the overall look, the pole wrap tiles were glued into place.
The next step was shaping the corners of the desk into curves, the overall shape is completely dependent on your personal taste, but for this desk Becky opted for rounded corners. Then a strip of wooden edging tape was added to the entire edge and sealed into position to create a watertight surface.
The resin stage was divided into two parts - a sealing coat and the main pour - the sealing coat was done by mixing up a small quantity of resin and brush applying it to the surface and left to cure. The main pour was applied to give the desk that stunning high gloss surface and left to fully cure.
To complete the desk, the desk top was moulted on to two small drawer units (upcycled bedside cabinets) to make the desk look great and provide lots of storage.
