Ocean Inspired Clocks and Serving Boards
This collection of home furnishings has been created by Beth from Outside Inwards using GlassCast Resin. Giving beautiful effects to functional items.
The Upcycled chess board was a commission piece. Beth sanded and prepped the board before pouring GlassCast 3, pigmented with resin pigments and acrylic inks to create waves to either side of the board with a white opaque mix used to provide the frothy wave effect. Before a final coat of resin to provide a glass look finish.
The natural wood serving boards create a beautiful contrast against the blue resin waves, always providing a modern and contemporary feel.
These pieces were prepped by some light sanding to ensure the resin would fully adhere to the wood, then masking tape is applied on the opposing side of the board to ensure no resin spills onto the back. This ensures that the back of the board remains flat; making it a functional serving board.
The ocean art clocks are created by creating a piece of ocean inspired resin art on a clock face rather that a board or canvas. The difference being that the edge of the clock face requires protecting from the resin run off. The same applies to blocking off the central hole so the mechanism can be added once cured.
If the clock requires time markers to be added these can be applied to the wet resin which will act as an adhesive and set them in position.
Once cured the clocks can be finished and the mechanisms fitted ready to be hung.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful work with us Beth!
ABOUT OUTSIDE INWARDS

Outside Inwards was established in June 2021 as a by-product of COVID-19. With strict regulations to stay indoors, this soon provoked the feeling of cabin fever. Long walks on the beach was just one activity that was taken away, and as a Cornish folk, one that was detrimental to both physical and mental well-being. With a longing for sea air, watching the sea foam form as it crashes on the sand - Outside Inwards was created.
Having shades of blues and foamy waters in our own homes mediated these feelings of cabin fever and deprivation of what we love. Now our aim is to continue bringing the outside inwards and provoke feelings of relaxation, tranquillity and wholesomeness.
