Mappa Burl and Purple Resin Guitar
Bearded Bob Designs completed this incredible client commission guitar for an upcoming UK and US tour.
The brief was for a purple resin and wood guitar and after close consultation a slab of Mappa burr was selected because of its beautiful grain and markings, paired with a vibrant deep purple metallic mica powder.
The wood was secured in a custom made mould, and the GlassCast 50 Resin was poured in two stages to a total depth of 50mm, with swirls added once the resin reached a honey like consistency. Once the resin was fully cured it was taken out of the mould and cut into a telecaster style shape. A hand painted logo was added and then a flood coat was poured so the logo appears to float.
After hours of work with a router, and sanding up to 10,000 grit, the guitar body was cut and polished to a fine finish, the electrics were wired, fitted into place and it was all ready to be set up and played - it looks amazing, thank you for sharing it with us!

We have been creating resin pieces for several years but the love of quality furniture started a lot longer ago with my father, a craftsman, gifted joiner and wood turner, who inspired me at a young age. Although recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, he continues to join us in the workshop.
