Epoxy Resin & Poisonwood Guitar using GlassCast®50 by Stone Wolf Guitars

Mike Payne from Stone Wolf Guitars is a master luthier and has been building bespoke guitars for almost a decade. Beginning as a hobby, Mike was soon bitten by the bug and has turned a passion for guitar building into his livelihood.

Hand-building instruments with an open-minded attitude

At Stone Wolf Guitars, all instruments are hand-built and Mike has a very open-minded attitude when it comes to building methods and materials. This can be seen in their liberal use of resins, exotic burls and layered fabric tops in their designs and builds. Mike is always looking for ways to do something interesting and different while still keeping the core belief that everything must be built to an extremely high standard, using the highest quality components available.

Stone Wolf love creating bespoke builds for customers and bringing their wild ideas to life, Mike is also a proud member of the EGB (European Guitar Builders Association) and is passionate about furthering the world of custom guitar builders.

"We're super proud of our resins and the huge range of projects they can be used for but even seeing resin projects every day we were still blown away by this poisonwood guitar."

"Since this project Mike has shared pictures of other unique builds using GlassCast and a wide range of materials to create truly unique designs including making denim mikarta and even embedding sweets into one guitar!"

I hand-build bespoke electric guitars for customers all over the world. I use GlassCast Resin in most of my guitars. It has such a variety of uses and applications that it's an invaluable tool for me to create my work.

I chose GlassCast as I needed something that gave me a crystal-clear finish even at thicknesses of up to 50mm. It's easy to use and allows me the freedom to make guitars with woods that would otherwise be unsuitable.
